Healthy, Metal-Free Dentistry
Wherever possible, Dr Nadler uses metal-free dentistry for a more aesthetic look and better health. This includes all-porcelain crowns, composite, tooth-colored fillings and durable replacements for fillings: porcelain onlays and inlays.
Improve your smile with a healthy alternative to amalgam fillings
With composite, tooth-colored fillings you can experience an aesthetic look without the health risk and unsightliness that amalgam (silver/mercury) fillings have.
Dr. Nadler uses materials for tooth-colored fillings that are biocompatible to your body.

Advantages of composite fillings:
- Beautiful, aesthetic teeth
- Won't cause cracks in your teeth
- Bonds directly to the tooth providing much support
- Prevents bacterial invasion
Composite fillings are bonded with adhesive to your tooth structure, protecting against decay and strengthening the tooth. This bond can make a composite filling last for seven to ten years or more. By contrast, dental amalgams do not form such a bond: they simply form a mechanical barrier to decay. Thus, over time, the amalgam-treated tooth can weaken, often creating a liability to your long-term dental health.
Composite tooth-colored fillings provide long-term bacterial invasion protection, too. Once bonded, bacteria and food particles cannot enter the tooth. However, silver amalgams on biting surfaces can develop tiny cracks in the material or between the filling and natural tooth structure. Bacteria can then invade, creating a decay problem.

All-Porcelain Inlays, Onlays & Crowns
Inlays and onlays are a type of filling that can be used to replace an existing large filling, or as a restoration of a broken-down tooth. For large cavities or restorations, Dr. Nadler may use an inlay or an onlay. These are used to repair broken-down teeth, for large cavities or even to replace an existing cavity. Inlays fit in between the cusps (bumps) of your tooth and onlays fit over one or more of the cusps. This gives the benefit of maintaining the natural tooth structure.
An onlay or inlay can also be a viable alternative to a crown, requiring less cutting down.
We use high-grade, very strong porcelain material to create your all-porcelain crowns, inlays and onlays. Not only are porcelain crowns more aesthetic, they also are biocompatible with your body.
